General-purpose buckets suit soil, sand, and loose gravel where moderate structure and efficient loading are priorities. They are commonly used in landscaping, foundation work, and routine earthmoving.

Heavy-duty buckets add reinforcement and wear protection for mixed soil, hard clay, gravel, and broken stone. Rock buckets use a more heavily reinforced structure and tooth and protection layout for quarry and severe rock work.

The correct choice depends on impact, abrasion, material size, digging cycle, carrier limits, and the expected balance between productivity and service life. Share actual site conditions rather than selecting by machine tonnage alone.
